This production method appeared firstly in the industrial sector. A conceptual model which associates, starting from the beginning of the project all the stakeholders in order to prevent from iterations.
Opposed from Agile methods, the V Model has gradually democratized in the IT sector, in particular in software edition. The V Model is more flexible than the waterfall method and offers the possibility to go back at the previous step even if the last one was already validated.

3 stages are usually assiocated to this method:
- The conception stage : analysis and identification of needs
- The realisation stage : product development
- The validation phase : tests and acceptance
This method requires the validation of on step before going to the next one and a commitment on the schedule which must be precise.
